BASEMENT CONCRETE POURED WALLS

Poured concrete basements are probably the most common type of construction. People prefer this option because it’s sturdy and simple. As the name suggests, poured concrete basement construction begins with the pouring of a footing for the foundation.

Forms are used to hold the wall in place as they dry. This results in strong basement walls that don’t typically cause any problems.

CONCRETE RETAINING WALLS

If you want to build a concrete retaining wall, you should consider pouring the wall rather than making it out of concrete blocks. A poured wall is much stronger and generally last many more years than a block wall.

CONCRETE BLOCK WALL AND CRAWL SPACE FOUNDATION

The least-expensive option for basement construction involves the use of concrete blocks or masonry. The walls are made of cinder blocks and can be constructed in a fraction of the time it takes to create a poured concrete wall. Steel rebar is generally used to reinforce the strength of these walls.

Concrete block walls tend to be more susceptible to water leaks. In addition to the potential for leaks along floor and wall joints, water can sometimes seep through the mortar that holds the individual blocks together.

The hollow nature of cinder blocks also means they can hold water for long periods of time after it gets in, even after the surrounding soil has dried.

CONCRETE SLABS

Monolithic slabs are foundation systems constructed as one single concrete pour that consists of a concrete slabwith thickened portions of the slab under load bearing walls and all perimeter edges that take the place of footers.

CONCRETE DRIVEWAY, SIDEWALKS, PATIO, DECORATIVE CONCRETE

A driveway is a piece of hard groundprivate way or road for cars, that leads from the road to the front of a house, garage, or other building.

It’s made to last. Environmental conditions have a great influence.

  • Why concrete poured basement walls are better than block walls.....

    • Strength

Solid concrete has an ultimate flexural strength that is greater than block, making it better able to resist cave-ins caused by lateral pressures of wind, earth, and water.  Its ultimate compressive strength is also greater, making it better able to support vertical building loads.  In addition, poured concrete walls get stronger as they age - for up to five years.

    • Maintenance Ease

Poured concrete basements need virtually no maintenance.  Concrete's composition is resistant to rot, decay, rodents, termites, and fungi.  Poured concrete is also nontoxic, containing no preservatives to become free upon contact or by leaching.  Solid concrete basement walls take care of themselves.

    • Fire Resistant

Because of it's increased density and joint-free construction, poured walls offer twice the fire resistance of hollow core block.

    • Affordability

Controlling costs is one of the biggest concerns of homebuilders and buyers alike.  Efficient modern construction methods make poured basement walls cost competitive with block walls.  When you can get this much performance at a comparable price, why look any farther?

    • Water Resistance

Solid concrete walls are essentially impervious to the passage of water.  Solid concrete has fewer and smaller voids than block and is less porous.  It offers almost twice the density of a hollow core block wall and weighs approximately 50 pounds more per cubic feet.  This makes concrete basements drier.

    • Design Flexibility

Poured wall construction is adaptable to all home styles, including ranches, duplexes, split levels, modular home, condominiums and apartments.  Poured concrete fits in perfectly with today's diverse lifestyles.

    • Time Savings

Using poured wall construction gives the builder a head start on framing.  A typical installation involves a three-day cycle.  When compared to block construction this saves the builder time, increases productivity, and results in a superior basement.
